Transcurso gathers the work carried out by José Quintanilla between the years 2014 and 2020, in which he reflects on the passage of time in a society conditioned by haste and the anxiety of immediacy, where everything rushes at great speed and life unfolds oblivious to pause and contemplation.
The author focuses on nature, in constant struggle with human action, reclaiming abandoned spaces that have ceased to be useful, imbued with a strong emotional charge from what has been experienced, from absence.
The photographs, taken on black and white film, transition between the beautiful and the sinister, metaphorical representations of what we are, our relationship with nature, the impermanence of things, and ourselves.
Limited edition of 300 copies.
Jose Quintanilla has directed the Digital Workshop (Taller Digigráfico) in Madrid since 2007, where he works for photographers and artists such as Bleda y Rosa, David Jiménez, or Paula Anta, as well as for museums and art galleries. As an author, his work focuses on landscapes, understood as the space that navigates between the human and nature, memory, and absence. In 2021, he received the special mention PHotoEspaña in the awards of the Enaire Foundation. He has recently exhibited at the Centre Pompidou in Malaga, as well as in public and private centers individually and collectively. As an educator, he teaches classes in the Efti and PhotoEspaña master’s programs and at the photography school La Máquina.
